Photoshop

Out of the top 12 i narrowed it down again, to help me decide i photoshopped the images to a standard where they would be able to print.

Backshots.

Throughout the photoshoot i had to keep rearranging the garment and making it look its best, the maske up artist also had to keep re applying the make up as it was oil based so came off with the heat of the room.

Top 12 images

Out of all the phtographs taken, i've narrowed it down to 12.

Geisha Photoshoot

I decided it would be best to get a make up artist do my models make up.
The slight difference in this make up to the photographed make up i wanted is the eyes arent as dark.

Side view.

Back of the hair, we used orchid hair grips.

Geisha make up practice

Primary idea for contemporary Geisha makeup.

My first attempt at the make up i realised the face paint looks really powdery and her cheeks arent a dark enough pink.

To make her cheeks darker i used a lipstick instead of a blusher. I think that this is too dark and too messy. After attempting to do the make up myself, i decided that i would only get the best make up in the photoshoot if i had a make up artist do it for me.

Self Taken Photographs

From my research I've noticed that the main part of Japanese art is focused on nature. So as part of my research i took photos of animals and plant life. From these photos i will create patterns and take into consideration the colours and textures.

Yayoi Kusama

Born 22nd march 1929 in Matsumoto City. She was the youngest of four children and developed a passion for art at a very young age. When there was an attack on Pearl Harbour she was sent to the factories to assist in making parachutes and military uniforms, from this experience i think this has influenced her materials used within her artwork.

'I am pursuing art in order to correct the disability which began in my childhood'

Where i discovered Yayoi was in the London Tate museum.
